Can I submit more than one project?
No. One submission per applicant.
What kinds of films do you accept?
Narrative, documentary, animated, and fashion short films are welcome. Music Videos must have a storyline and must contain at least light levels of dialogue.
What kind of projects are you looking for? What stands out?
Black Heaven is looking for you. We are looking for projects that go as light or as deep as you want to within the theme of Blackness if Global. We want to see you take it on as your own. What that means for you. Be yourself, your unfiltered creative self. That's what stands out to us.
Can I post trailers, clips, and/or scenes of my project online?
Yes, Black Haven even encourages it. We want the people that support you and love your art to celebrate with you. Whether you are selected or not, your work is worth celebrating. We ask that if you are selected to not post the full project online until after the festival.
Once I’ve submitted my project, should I contact you about my film?
If you’ve got any new, relevant information for us during the selection process (new contact info, you just got into another festival, the film got distribution), send the information to info@blckhaven.com with the title of your film as the subject.
Who is on the juries that select the winners during the Festival?
Juries are a panel of community artist leaders, representatives from local arts institutions, and film media theater industry representatives.
Can I submit a film that’s not yet complete?
Rough cuts or works-in-progress are accepted and reviewed. However, filmmakers are urged to submit as close to the final cut as possible. The Festival will not accept new versions of an entry unless requested by the programming staff.
