At Black Haven Arts and Culture, our mission is to empower artists to use their storytelling craft in advancing solutions for social change.

We were founded to provide access to all artists, with a particular focus on BIPOC artists, with a safe space for them to express themselves, inspire the strength of the human spirit, and lead with empathy to drive social change toward tackling the problems and celebrating the strength of the human spirit in surmounting obstacles to accomplishing goals.

Black Haven Film Festival

Black Haven Film Fest is an annual film festival celebrating CT Black stories and filmmakers.

Media, film, and theater in New Haven have long been co-opted by classism, elitism and racism suffocating Black creatives and their stories. Black Haven Film Fest is a platform for genius Black art to exist as it should.
